Overview
The Department of Telemedicine at Nanavati Max Super Specialty Hospital, Mumbai – India has been delivering tele-consultation services to patients from various parts of the country, internationally to PAN African Countries and various other international patients from Non-African Countries since August,2006.
Latest telemedicine software , tele-consultation app , digital point of care medical devices and remote monitoring has been implemented and adopted as practice by more than 100 Consultants at Nanavati Max.
So far the Department of Telemedicine has provided tele-consultation services to more than 60,000 patients in the last decade. In the FY 2019-20, the Department of Telemedicine has delivered more than 35,000 tele-consultations with constant support of more than 100 Consultants across 30 super specialties. At present dept. provides on an average 3000 tele-consultations per month.
Govt. of Maharashtra National Rural Health Mission - recognised Telemedicine Dept., of Nanavati Max Hospital in July, 2006 as a nodal centre to provide specialist doctor’s tele – consultation to the 15 District and Sub-district hospitals in the entire State of Maharashtra.
In August, 2009 Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital became part of the prestigious project “The PAN African E – Network Initiative of Ministry of External Affairs (Govt. of India) managed by Telecommunication Consultants of India Ltd (TCIL) and has delivered more than 750 hours of international Tele-CME’s (continuous medical education programmes) across 12 specialties which is approx. 1000 CME lectures via teleconference on various clinical topics which has benefitted more than 7000 doctors and paramedics, nurses in African Sub Continent. CME’s were delivered in English and French language.
