70 Years of Nanavati History

The iconic Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital carries a luminous legacy. The hospital was founded by Ratilal Manilal Nanavati in memory of his grandfather who was the physician to the royal family of Gaekwads.

When it was still in its gestational stage, the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi expressed the hope that the institution would serve people from all sections of society. Mahatma Gandhi was among the first to give his blessings and set the course of its journey of care and compassion.

2018

Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital in collaboration with Parkinson's Center of Excellence, Kings College, London, launch the revolutionary treatment of Parkinson's for the first time in India - Apomorphine Pen & Pump.

It was launched in the presence of our Chief Guest, Hon. Health Minister of Maharashtra, Dr. Deepak Sawant and our Guest of Honour, Member of Parliament, Padma Shri Paresh Rawal.

Shah Rukh Khan Inaugurates Centre for Heamato-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant

The centre is equipped with ultra-modern infrastructure and an internally trained, widely experienced faculty. It is supported by state-of-the-art laboratory & transfusion services along with fully equipped radiation oncology unit, with facilities for total body irradiation. The centre is also an authorised stem cell collection centre for DATRI Blood Stem Cell Donor’s Registry.

2015

24x7 Accident & Emergency Centre

Former Union Cabinet Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Shri Shatrughan Sinha and Honourable Health Minister of Maharashtra, Dr. Deepak Sawant inaugurated the state-of-the-art Accident and Emergency Centre on Saturday, 5th September 2015.

Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital has multiple achievements to its credit including the Healthcare Excellence Award, 2014 given by Indus Foundation, FICCI, IMA and Govt. of Telangana and Medical Excellence Award, 2014 given by Aditya Media and Jansanskriti NGO at IMA Delhi. Nanavati Max has one of India's most well equipped tele-medicine centres with a network panning across India and Africa. The centre received CISCO Technology Award in 2014, Global Healthcare award in 2013, Edge awards in 2011 and 2012 and the E-India award in 2010.

Abhay Soi, then Chairman - Radiant Life Care and now Chairman & MD, Max Healthcare inaugurated the new Cath lab in the presence of all the leading cardiologists and other top doctors. It is one of the busiest cath labs in Mumbai, performing over 3000 procedures every year.

Hrithik Roshan inaugurated Nanavati Max Hospital's Electrophysiology and Electroacoustic Centre of Audiology and Speech Therapy Audiology Centre.

2007

A state-of-the-art Advanced Centre for Radiation Oncology (ACRO), was inaugurated at Nanavati Max Hospital. It was Mumbai's first Elekta precise digital linear accelerator with intensity modulated radiation and image guidance.

2004

Shah Rukh Khan donated a state-of-the-art medical centre in memory of his mother Lateef Fatima called Lateef Fatima Pediatric Centre.

1962

Mother Teresa inaugurated the cancer centre and brought the first child for treatment to Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital. This marked the beginning of a long and lasting relationship between her and the hospital. The nuns of Asha Daan regularly bring ailing children to the hospital for medical treatment. The underprivileged children are treated free of cost receiving the same quality of medical care.
