The Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the Centre for Critical Care is a multispeciality, emergency care unit for critically ill patients who require surgery or are recovering from surgery, including immunocompromised patients. Our multidisciplinary team of intensivists (doctors who treat intensive care patients), includes surgeons, physician, anaesthesiologists, critical care nurses, respiratory therapists and many other specialists, offering evidence-based critical care in a patient-centric environment with frequent monitoring and state-of-the-art therapies.
SICU is well equipped with advanced technology which includes modern ventilators, non-invasive ventilation systems, multi-modular monitors, automated beds, portable X-ray, ultrasound system, CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) system, percutaneous insertion of tracheostomies, feeding tubes, management of surgical bleeding and dedicated beds for haemodialysis.
The unit follows the most stringent infection control policies, as par HICC (Hospital Infection Control Committee) protocols. The synergy between our professional expertise and that of surgical intensive care unit are setting new standards in providing excellent surgical outcomes and results, which are among the best in the nation.
